Our Team

Dr. Jennifer L. Hartey, PsyD

Psychologist, Owner

Dr. Jennifer Hartey is the founder and owner of the private group practice, which she started in 2020 after having worked as a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania since 2006. Dr. Hartey (Dr. Jen to many of our younger clients) completed her PsyD program in 2004 before completing a two-year postdoctoral program specializing in neuropsychology at one of the identified and approved Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) placements (Hartford Hospital/The Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut). As a neuropsychologist, Dr. Hartey’s primary focus relates to psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, which are often recommended and administered for differential diagnosis purposes and/or to assess one’s cognitive integrity (looking for changes following injury, age, or any other possible contributing factor that can include brain development concerns) in efforts to determine the most effective treatment interventions. Results from these tests can also help bridge the gap of understanding between the identified patient’s symptoms and any potential underlying cause or currently contributing cause, which Dr. Hartey hopes gives some relief and greater insight into these symptoms not just for the patient themselves but also their families and other treatment providers, as well as other supports in their lives (teachers, extended family, caretakers, coworkers, etc) at the patient and family’s request. Dr. Hartey is a big proponent of training the next generation of mental health professionals and expanding availability of services to anyone in need. She supervises and trains other master’s level clinicians, as well as students in the process of completing their master or doctoral level programs. In addition, Dr. Hartey consults with various agencies, clinicians, and programs throughout central Pennsylvania to conduct diagnostic interviews and evaluations to determine best treatment options for children and their families, which helps coordinate care outside of what our practice can directly offer. Dr. Hartey has also recently obtained authority to practice interjurisdictional telepsychology. The Authorization to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology ( APIT) is an authorization granted by the PSYPACT Commission that allows its holders to practice telepsychology across state lines.

Outside of work, Dr. Hartey loves spending time with her sisters and their families, and hanging out with her dog. When not at home, Dr. Hartey enjoys attending various sports events for her nieces and nephews, attending Philadelphia Phillies baseball games, watching stage plays and musicals, and being anywhere that has a beach and water.

Each client is an individual with unique experiences and stories. They deserve individualized treatment that focuses on their needs. I desire to help clients realize their potential and be the best version of themselves. I emphasize the client’s strengths and motivate them to develop positive coping, communication, and self-control skills.  My experience includes 28 years in the human services field. I have worked with individuals of all ages. I have experience working with individuals recovering from addiction. I have provided support to families as a counselor and foster parent. As a Service Coordinator, Guardian, and Protective Services Worker, I worked to ensure that individuals who cannot meet their own needs are receiving services to ensure that all of their needs are being met.
